Become a Referee!

RFYS prides itself on the fact that we hire, develop, and train young people from our community to become a referee.

Subject to limited exceptions, RFYS has two basic eligibility requirements: (1) referee is at least age 13 when the season begins; and (2) referee obtains a grassroots first-time referee license as required by the Illinois Soccer Referee Committee. Registration to become a grassroot first-time referee license may be found at the US Soccer Learning Center. Periodic referee certification is recommended but not required. RFYS pays referees fees ranging from $25 - $75 per match, depending upon the age and experience of the referee.
